The Baltimore Ravens defense has been a disappointment so far this season, and it desperately needs its former first-round pick to live up to the preseason hype.
The ravens rumors 2024 is a Baltimore Ravens team that has struggled to start the season. They desperately need their former first-round pick, Lamar Jackson, to live up to the preseason hype.
The Ravens of Baltimore are a tenacious lot. They’ve shown this time and time again. After barely escaping Detroit, the squad will need to conduct some serious introspection. Despite the many injuries, the Ravens still have a lot of skill in their locker room. The Ravens’ defense has to improve, beginning with one of its captains.
For the Baltimore Ravens, Patrick Queen was a steal.
Patrick Queen, the No. 28 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, landed in the laps of the Baltimore Ravens. Queen enters the NFL as one of the most interesting linebacker prospects in the class after a breakthrough junior season at LSU.
In 2019, Queen, a former four-star athlete, started all 15 games for LSU. He has 85 tackles, 12 sacks, three sacks, and an interception in his career. He played a key role in the Tigers’ unbeaten national championship run.
Queen’s college video was impressive, displaying exceptional athleticism and physicality. He was reckless in his play and had a keen sense of the game. Those similar qualities helped him blend in well with the Ravens’ defense.
For the Ravens, the Ventress, Louisiana native filled a major gap at linebacker. As a rookie, he started all 16 regular-season games, racking up 106 tackles, nine tackles for loss, three sacks, and two forced fumbles in the process.
In 2024, the LSU product was voted third in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. Given some of the guys that went before him, Queen was unquestionably a bargain for the Ravens.
So far in the 2024 regular season, Queen has not lived up to expectations.

Patrick Queen began 2024 hoping to improve on a strong first season. He’d be an ideal defensive coordinator because of his exceptional athletic abilities.
Queen has recorded 23 tackles with the Baltimore Ravens during the first three weeks of the season. His play, on the other hand, hasn’t always been spotless.
The second-year linebacker understands that he must improve. According to the Baltimore Ravens’ official website, Queen stated, “I feel like I’m fairly decent, but I could be a lot better.” “Against Kansas City, I missed two tackles that I shouldn’t have missed. All I have to do now is finish things up.”
After Baltimore’s Week 2 shock win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Queen made those remarks. He is, however, still working to correct some of the errors.
Against the Detroit Lions, the inside linebacker also missed many tackles. He has a habit of trying for the big hit without wrapping up, which isn’t going to work for the Ravens. In pass coverage, he’s also looked out of sorts at times.
Queen has raw potential, but he must put it all together in order for the Ravens defense to be successful.
On defense, the Ravens need Patrick Queen to fill the shoes of Ray Lewis.
After the game, Patrick Queen wore a Ray Lewis t-shirt:

On defense, the Baltimore Ravens have a long and illustrious history. The bulk of the defensive skill on the squad has come through the draft.
Ray Lewis, the best linebacker in Ravens history, was drafted in the franchise’s first NFL Draft class in 1996. The University of Miami (FL) product spent his entire 17-year NFL career in Baltimore and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a result.
Lewis was a 12-time Pro Bowl selection and twice earned the NFL Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year award. He’s also the all-time tackle leader in the NFL.
Ray Lewis is a hero to Patrick Queen, who admires his influence on the Ravens franchise. Wink Martindale, the defensive coordinator, wants his young linebacker to unleash his inner Ray Lewis.
Queen, like Lewis, isn’t a traditional linebacker in terms of size. He is, nevertheless, hungry. He’s a better athlete than Lewis, but he still has to iron out the flaws in his technique.
The season is 17 games long, so there is still time to turn things around, but in the NFL, every week matters. Patrick Queen has the potential to be the next great Baltimore Ravens linebacker if he can minimize his errors and mental lapses.
